The Tennessean

Sen. Barack Obama became the first Democratic presidential candidate to open a Nashville campaign headquarters Monday.

"We want to give people the tools they need to make sure our campaign is successful. This is a really valuable investment for the success of the entire campaign," [said Trista Allen, southern field director for the Obama campaign.]

...Monday's event was attended by a host of local politicians and about 200 supporters; it featured the Fisk Jubilee Singers.

Megan Morton has signed up to volunteer at the new office. She is co-organizer of Nashville Loves Barack Obama, a group of volunteers who sponsor regular events to raise voter awareness.

"This campaign honors their volunteers and really listens to the people that are on the grounds as much as we are," she said. "The opening of this office is a testament that they are responsive to what supporters say."
