Barack Obama keeps fighting


The ones who couldn't get inside the Yanitelli Center at St. Peter's College were out near this side door, waiting for the door to open every few minutes so they could hear at least a few words from Barack Obama come spilling and sometimes crashing out onto Montgomery St.

When the door did open briefly a few minutes after 5, and the people on Montgomery heard Obama talking about the end to "Scooter Libby justice" in this country and the end to "Karl Rove politics," an 18-year old St. Peter's student named Nate Edmondson smiled and threw a small fist into the twilight.

"Trust me," said Nate Edmondson, who will vote for the first time in November, "even out here, you feel like you can hear him loud and clear."

There is an old line from Mike Tyson about how everybody has a plan until they get hit. Obama got hit by Hillary Clinton on Tuesday on a night when he was supposed to be the one putting her away. But there he was yesterday while Clinton was home in Chappaqua, getting right back up and bringing the fight right back to her, first at St. Peter's, then across the river at the Grand Hyatt last night.
