Ed Rendell's Allergy To Message Discipline

Marc Ambinder

It's endearing, actually. Earlier in the day, Clinton's state director, Nick Clemons, told reporters that a win was a win was a win -- and that because Barack Obama was outspending Clinton by a ratio of three to one (a Clinton later later upped the ratio to four to one), the race was really close.

Rendell wasn't having any of it. To Clinton supporters in York, he said: "Not to put any pressure on you folks, but this is it, this is it. We're gonna we win, no doubt about it, but we gotta win big. If we win big, we're going to wind up with more votes than Barack Obama. It's gonna be a very big decision for the superdelegates.:"
