Special delivery: Obama's Postals

by Mike Dorning, The Swamp

No, the endorsement is not in the mail. The American Postal Workers Union announced its support for Barack Obama with an e-mail sent to reporters a few minutes ago.

The union, which claims to be the largest postal union in the world, said its executive board voted to endorse Obama today.

"We are most impressed by Sen. Obama's commitment to eradicating the undue influence of special interests in the political process, union president William Burrus said in a statement. "Our current political system does not allow for the voices of average citizens to be heard over the demands of lobbyists and big-money campaign contributors."

The union says it represents approximately 300,000 postal workers with clerical, maintenance and motor vehicle-related jobs.
